Lady Gaga is overjoyed after getting engaged to Michael Polansky. In an interview with Vogue, published on September 5, she shared how her life has changed since they met. The couple got engaged in April after a day of rock climbing, and Gaga officially confirmed the news in July.

Gaga shared with Vogue that her mom, Cynthia Germanotta, who runs the Born This Way Foundation, actually met Michael Polansky, the entrepreneur, at a charity event before Gaga did.
The singer shared, “My mom met him and told me, ‘I think I just met your future husband,’ but I wasn’t ready for that! I never thought my mom would find the perfect person for me.”
Gaga and Michael Polansky met at Napster cofounder Sean Parker’s 40th birthday party in Los Angeles in December 2019.
“I got an invitation and wondered if Michael would be there. My mom said yes, so I went and kept asking for him. When he finally came over, we talked for three hours. It was an amazing conversation,” Gaga recalled.
“I didn’t know much about her and didn’t really know what to expect,” Polansky told Vogue. “But right away, I was amazed by how warm and open she was. She really wanted to know about my life growing up in Minnesota.”
The couple got close quickly and ended up spending the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown together at Gaga’s house in Malibu.
“We had this special time where life felt kind of normal,” Polansky said. “We’d go for walks, make coffee, hang out with the dogs, and read books together—things that help a relationship grow.”
Gaga added, “I’m so grateful I wasn’t alone. I’ve never met anyone like Michael—he’s so smart and kind.”
Lady Gaga, who stars in The Joker: Folie à Deux, shared that the most important thing she wants her fans to know about her relationship is, “I’m just so happy.”
Her fiancé, Michael Polansky, also played a big role in inspiring her to release a new pop album, her first since Chromatica in 2020. Polansky said, “Like anyone who loves their partner, I told her to enjoy it and have fun.” On her 2022 Chromatica tour, I saw her passion and wanted to help her keep that alive and make music that made her happy.”
