A four-year-old girl who died when a fire ripped through her home in Northumberland this week has been named for the first time.
While her mum and younger sister escaped with injuries, Kiki died on Kingsley Road, in Lynemouth village, around 9.30pm on Monday.
Now the mother, who is in her 20s, has shared her heartbreak on social media, where she shared pictures of her daughter.
She wrote: ‘I miss you baby girl, fly high and rest easy my gorgeous angel.’
The four-year-old is understood to have been named after the girl’s aunt, who has been collecting clothes donations for the mum and surviving daughter after their home was destroyed.
A neighbour, Steven Common, 58, had run into the burning house with a wet tea towel and crawled on his knees in an attempt to save Kiki from the fire.
‘He got to the sofa but had to stop because of the heat and the ceiling was falling down’, Steven’s partner Karen Coulson, 68, told MailOnline.
‘The mother was really distressed and I asked her where her child was – she told me she was in the kitchen.
‘I told Steven and we got the house pipe and tried to put it out. It was horrible because we knew she was inside but we couldn’t do anything – he did try his best but he couldn’t go any further.
‘We couldn’t get in the other entrance to the house because the door was locked and the flames were so high.
‘We were trying to get everyone out of the other houses and banging on the doors because that one was on fire.’
Local shopkeeper Mr Gill, of Gills Store, told Metro: ‘It’s really terrible, terrible. I’m very shocked. I don’t know what happened. It’s really shocked all the village, everybody.’
